1. Reduce carbohydrates in the evenings

You see, carbohydrates like bread, potatoes and pasta provide a quick release of energy  just like sugar, and if we’re not quick to burn them off during the day, then they simply get converted to fat. Since most people are likely to be more active during the day, try to avoid the carbs after 4pm. Your evening meal should be small, with emphasis on the proteins (such as chicken, turkey, fish, beans) and vegetables and/or salad (such as spinach, broccoli, green beans, watercress, tomatoes etc.) If you are a night owl, avoid eating the carbs within 6 hours of the time you go to bed. No matter what your schedule is, it is imperative that you stay away from the carbohydrates when headed into your “down time”!

2. Walk for 30 Minutes a Day
If you don’t have time to go to the gym, a 30 minute walk does wonders. Walking is as beneficial as running in terms of weight loss, and causes less damaging to your knees and joints. It’s light hearted and easy for most people, you can take a friend along and have a nice chat, or just enjoy the scenery along the  way, and you only need to walk 30 minutes, 5 times a week to see results! Alternately, a brisk walk on a treadmill will have the same slimming results if you can’t get outdoors. Even if you are able to get outdoors, this piece of exercise equipment is definitely worth having in your home to facilitate walking during the cold winter months.

3. Drink 10-15 Glasses of Water Per Day
Drinking Water If you’re not fond of drinking water, then the thought of downing 15 glasses of water a day might seem daunting. Don’t feel bad, lots of people have this problem; admittedly even some doctors do not drink enough water. You can make it easier by trying some of these helpful tips:

    • Flavor it with some lemon juice, lime juice or other natural juice concentrate.
    • Sip at it throughout the day, this will make it easier to keep yourself properly hydrated without having to down the water all at once.

To help with your hydration efforts, you may want to stay away from caffeine. Drinking just one cup of coffee can zero out several glasses worth of water intake.

Over time, a good habit of drinking water regularly will become less difficult. Many people find that as time goes by, coffee, soda and other drinks do not appeal to them as much as they once did, making it easier to stick with their water regimen.
